Swearengin named new mayor
Ashley Swearengin won the mayoral race tonight, handedly beating Henry T. Perea, ushering in a new era in local politics. Backed by north Fresno, business leaders, and the religious right, Swearengin is the first female to take the top job in Fresno since Karen Humphrey back in the 80’s. Swearengin also seemed to benefit mightily from the late endorsement of outgoing mayor Alan Autry. We congratulate her on a hard fought victory and wish her the best of luck in this difficult and tricky economic and political climate.
